Our Story

Hi, I'm Genny, the founder of Rug Cozy. Like a lot of good ideas, this one started with a small, everyday annoyance. I was tired of walking into my own bathroom and stepping onto a cold, damp, slippery floor mat that looked worn out after a month and never quite dried properly. I wanted something that actually felt good underfoot, held its shape wash after wash, and made a small corner of the house feel a little more inviting. That search turned into Rug Cozy.

We started with rugs and mats for the rooms where comfort matters most: the bathroom, the hallway, the spot by the front door where wet shoes and paws land first. It's a simple category, but it's one that's surprisingly easy to get wrong, and we'd tried enough disappointing mats ourselves to know exactly what we didn't want to sell.

What We Care About

Every rug and mat in our collection is chosen for three things: how it feels, how well it performs, and how long it lasts. We look for soft, plush textures like coral velvet and brushed polyester piles that stay soft even after regular washing, backing that genuinely grips the floor instead of sliding at the worst possible moment, and absorbency that actually keeps water off your tiles rather than pushing it around. If a mat doesn't tick those boxes when we test it ourselves, it doesn't make it into the shop.

We also believe a rug should suit your home, not just your bathroom. That's why you'll find our pieces in a range of sizes, shapes, and colours, from soft neutrals that blend into any bathroom to bolder tones that add a bit of personality to an entryway or a kitchen sink area. Small details, like a non-slip base or a quick-dry weave, make a genuine difference to daily life, and that's exactly what we design around.

How We Work

Rug Cozy is a small, independent business, and we like it that way. We work closely with our suppliers to keep an eye on materials and quality, and we're honest with ourselves about which products are worth keeping on the shelf and which aren't. We'd rather offer a smaller range of rugs we genuinely stand behind than a huge catalogue full of mats we wouldn't put in our own homes.

We also try to keep things simple and transparent for our customers, from clear sizing information on every product page to straightforward shipping and returns. If something isn't right when it arrives, we want to know about it and put it right, not hide behind small print.
